Rumor: Insomniac Games ending PS3-exclusivity?

IGN has caught word that the folks at Insomniac Games may be looking to end its reign as a PlayStation 3 exclusive developer.

Citing a “trusted source” who apparently spoke with the website at GDC earlier this week, Insomniac is apparently looking in to developing fresh IP for other platforms – in this case Xbox 360 – in addition to Sony’s black box.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past five years or so, Insomniac are of course the brains behind some of the PS3’s most celebrated franchises, including Resistance and Ratchet & Clank.

No word from Insomniac on the matter yet as you’d expect, though we’ll be sure to keep you updated as soon as we hear anything.

Insomniac games are all the rage these days.
I dont want resistance 3 to be a third party game now.
sure it'll get more fans but we'll lose our pride of having really good exclusive games.
At least its only a rumor for now.

I can't believe what I'm reading why would Insomniac do this to us I don't know if I can live anymore................. No still alive but I feel like crying first square give Final Fantasy to xbox and now this I hope this rumor is not true.

Well since Sony publish R&C and Resistance i doubt they will ever end up on the xbox 360 but as for new IP it would defo if they are to go multiplatform. i really dont care to be honest though lol.

Sadly it could happen. Resistance 2 had alot of ppl competing in the online. Xbox had the best servers and can make money for having a game like Resistance in competition. They had tournmants for that game when it came out

Resistance two and Rachet and Clank are backed by Sony! They're not going multiplatform with those games so don't stress about it!

I think a lot of you are over speculating. It reads "New I.P.". This doesn't necessarily mean Ratchet and Resistance are going to show up on the 360 (Even if they did, I doubt they would do as well as they do on the PS3) since Sony published both games. And a new I.P. on another system doesn't rule out it's going to suck either just because it's not PS3 exclusive. I'm going to sit back and watch this one on the radar and see what happens.

Ehm it's not because Insomniac will be making games for the 360 that RaC and Resistance are going to appear on 360.

Earth to You Guys...Sony has a contract which makes RaC exclusive to PS3 NOT THE COMPANY ITSELF

For me as long as the quality remains high for their ps3 games, it doesn't matter if they go multi-platform. I just don't want them to go the route that other developers have and simply rely on porting games from the 360 version. That bothers me.

i really hope they just stay with the ps3 cuz r3 is going to b a bad ass game to rub in the face of xbox360 when it comes out
