Default PS3 "Fat" vs PS3 Slim

I was curious what your opinions were on both the older model ps3 as well as the newer model ps3. Which one do you think is better overall? Also, which of these ps3's do you own? The "fat" model, the slim version, or even both? Let me know what you think. I personally have both models. An older "fat" one with a 320 gig upgraded HDD and the slim 250 gig. They are both still working great and i have had very few problems apart from occasional freezing.

I had the Legendary 60gb fat PS3. But, since it died (YLOD) I got a 120gb slim (Via trade through sony). Miss the Backwards compatibility of PS2 games, but the Slim is pretty good. I like it.

I have the slim. It's nice and everything. I just kinda wish it could play PS2 games. And it tends to freeze now and then when I'm playing littlebigplanet.

This metal rack, did you make it or buy it? Because that sounds like a good idea. Let me know.

I got both, the OG PS3 Fat, and the (newest) Slim. My Slim is much cooler and quieter.

I have a 2 port fat(500gb HDD) and no issues with it. I had a 4 port (launch) 60gb fat one (with 320 hdd upgrade) that fell off a shelf at the hands of my 3 year old (at the time) and it YLODed on me after that fall.
I miss the 4 ports with the flash drive reader on my launch one but my new one has had no issues other than Midnight Club freezing occasionally and I couldn't finish Ratchet and Clank (convinced it was the disk and I have heard of this happening to many people.)

Biggest thing I miss is Sonys doing... I want my Linux back.

I never really used my ps3 to plat ps2 games but it is a nice feature.

I don't think freezing is related specifically to the slim as i occasionally have the old one freeze as well as the new one.

I bought it. I think it was intended for use in a cupboard to stack dishes on. It sounds ridiculous but it works. =)

The slim IS much quieter than the fat. I can barely hear the slim and the fat sounds lit a jet engine.

I agree, my older ps3 tends to freeze more often and have more problems in general.

Having 4 ports was nice but you can always just buy a USB hub if you need more ports. As far as Linux, I agree. I just got Ubuntu almost working and then there was the firmware update that erased it. =(

    Yepperoni, I got one.

And, The slims seem to work Very slightly better, Which is only because it is more fresh hardware, But they generate more heat than a fat ps3 does.

Personally. I will always prefer the fat over the crinkly and hot ps3 slim.
