DJ Hero Trophy Guide By skelly518 ![]() x41 x7 x2 x1Players: 1-2 Online play: Yes Online trophies: Yes (5) Cheat codes: No Cheats affect trophies: N/A Trophy difficulty: 6/10 Platinum difficulty: 9.5/10 Time to platinum: 40+ hours Introduction: DJ Hero is the latest installment by Activision of the already hugely successful "hero" franchise. Boasting 93 original mixes to start and download content (dlc) already on the way, DJ Hero is looking to become an instant hit! With its brand new innovative turntable controller, beginner gamers and expert turntablists alike can enjoy the smooth and natural vinyl feel the game offers. DJ Hero works on three basic elements: scratch, mix and sample. Scratch your turntable platter for seemingly flawless vinyl replications; mix and cross-fade between 2 different tracks, and sampling that is as easy as turning a knob (literally). Stunning graphics and user-friendly online features are just a few great things you can also expect from DJ Hero, which is starting create the buzz that DJ Hero could be the best and most fun music game to date. General Tips: Being that DJ Hero has features that are completely new to us all, i will be stating some of the functions and how to identify certain areas in a basic tips guide before we start on actual trophy hunting. So lets try to keep some things in mind. If you are stuck on a certain area you can always refer to this as a back-up for those harder than usual spots.
Difficulty Legend: * - Very Easy ** - Easy *** - Medium **** - Hard ***** - Very Hard My First SetComplete a set list on any difficulty Difficulty: * After completing your training, you will head to your first set list called "Scratchin' the Surface." Complete the 3 mixes in this set list with any star rating and any difficulty to be awarded with one of your first DJ Hero trophies. The Full SetComplete all mixes at any difficulty level Difficulty: ** As you progress throughout the game, you will unlock new "set lists" - 23 in all. Complete every mix in every set list, including bonus tracks, to obtain this silver trophy. See spoiler below for a full breakdown of set lists and their available stars. Super Scratchin' Successfully perform 10,000 scratches Difficulty: * A scratch is when you simply move your hand back and forth on the platter of the DJ Hero turntable controller. Scratch movements only show up in your green and blue regions. Perform scratches in mixes to obtain this trophy. It's cumulative, so don't worry, you'll get this a lot faster than you think. Harsh Fader Successfully perform 5,000 crossfader moves Difficulty: * A crossfader move is when you move your crossfader from the left or to the right. Your DJ Hero turntable controller will click when moved from it standard middle position. One click equals one move. Another cumulative trophy that sounds a lot longer than it really is. Keep playing and you will get this eventually. Remember to use "euphoria" to do automatic perfect crossfade moves with no effort. Freestyle DJ Turn the effects knob during every effects zone, and trigger a sample in every freestyle sample zone in any mix on hard difficulty or above Difficulty: * Every time you see an "effects zone" you must turn your effects knob (even if it's just a little bit). Same goes for your sampling. Every time you see a thick red line streaming down, you must hit your middle (red) button to trigger at least one sample. Every effects zone and sample area must be hit in one mix to obtain this trophy. I suggest using mix 1 from set list 1 (Scratchin' the Surface) by Bobby "Blue" Bland/ Connie Price and The Keystones, entitled: "Ain't no love in the heart of the city"/"Fuzz and them". It is the first mix and is very low intensity. Effects zones and sample areas will be at a minimal in this very early stage. No Mistakes Allowed Successfully perform all scratches in any mix on hard difficulty or above Difficulty: ** Every time a scratch is given to you in any one particular mix, you must successfully perform it. Scratches only appear in your green and blue areas. You will need to do this on hard difficulty so, again, I recommend using mix 1 from set list 1 (Scratchin the Surface') by Bobby "Blue" Bland/Connie Price and The Keystones, entitled "Ain't no love in the heart of the city"/"Fuzz and them". It is the first mix and is very low intensity and will have a minimal amount of scratch sections making this trophy very easy to obtain. Tap King Successfully press the platter button(s) for all tap icons in any mix on hard difficulty or above Difficulty: ** On the top of your DJ Hero turntable controller is a platter. On top of your platter are 3 buttons (green, red and blue). As you play through a mix, different variations of these button(s) will stream down the record to you. You must successfully tap every available tap icon. Tapping is simply pressing the button as instructed. You must do this on hard difficulty or above so I recommend using mix 1 from set list 1 (Scratchin' the Surface) by Bobby "Blue" Bland/Connie Price and The Keystones, entitled "Ain't no love in the heart of the city"/"Fuzz and them". It is very low intensity and will have a minimal amount of tap icons, making this easy to get. Fantastic Fader Successfully perform all crossfades and crossfade spikes (if present) in any mix on hard difficulty or above Difficulty: ** Whenever a crossfader move or spike is present, you must successfully perform it. You must perform EVERY crossfader move or spike in any 1 mix to obtain this trophy. Remember to use "euphoria" for the harder mixes. When euphoria is used all crossfade moves and spikes will be done for you automatically. This must be done on hard difficulty or above so again I recommend using mix 1 from set list 1 (Scratchin' the Surface) by Bobby "Blue" Bland/Connie Price and The Keystones, entitled "Ain't no love in the heart of the city"/"Fuzz and them". It has a small amount of crossfade moves and no crossfade spikes, making this trophy a piece of cake. Superstar DJ Get a 100% hits in any mix on hard difficulty or above Difficulty: ** Very straight-forward. You must obtain 100% hits on any 1 mix on hard difficulty or above. I suggest using mix 1 from set list 1 (Scratchin' the Surface) by Bobby "Blue" Bland/Connie Price and The Keystones, entitled "Ain't no love in the heart of the city"/"Fuzz and them". To make a long story short, if you can do this mix and not miss one tap, scratch, crossfade, or effects zone move, you will obtain not only this bronze but a nice 6-pack of trophies if you haven't already gotten them separately - No Mistakes Allowed, Tap King, Fantastic Fader, Superstar DJ, Four Star, and My 50 Pence. Good TimesEarn 10 stars by playing any of the mixes in the "grandmaster flash presents" set list Difficulty: * Very, very easy. Go to the set list "Grandmaster Flash Presents" (8th set list) and complete any of the 3 available mixes. 15 stars are available in total so it will give you some breathing room. Any difficulty level will yield you this bronze trophy. Multiplier Madness Achieve an 8x multiplier during any mix (not in the tutorials) Difficulty: * To achieve a big multiplier is easy, and since you can do this on any difficulty it should be no problem. Simply choose any mix you're comfortable with and play it on easy or harder; trick is, you'll have to be on point. If you're just a beginner, set the difficulty to easy and don't miss a beat. Sounds a lot harder than it is. You can boost your multiplier in a variety of fashions, such as completing multiple taps, scratches or perfect zones which is where you can gain serious points. Give it a whirl, and I'm sure you'll have it in no time. REEEWIINNNND!!Perform 4 rewinds without missing any icons in any mix on any difficulty Difficulty: ** Rewinds are rewarded for performing perfectly in DJ Hero. A small rewind icon will glow neon green at the top of your multiplier when you obtain this iconic award. Seeing as you can do this on any difficulty, simply choose a mix you're comfortable with and go for it. I suggest trying this in the middle set lists, as some of the earlier mixes on earlier set lists will not even be advanced enough to give you 4 rewinds (unless you were great and playing on hard and expert difficulties). Try it on easy. When a rewind is given, use it immediately so you can instantly start gaining points for another. You will pretty much have to complete a mix perfectly to be rewarded with 4 rewind opportunities, so stay sharp! Graduation Complete the tutorial "Learn to DJ": Advanced Techniques Difficulty: * Complete the second installment of your DJ training. This will more than likely be your first DJ Hero trophy. See spoiler for complete DJ Hero training breakdown. You can always access this feature from the main menu for help and guidance as well. Everything is explained here. Double Trouble Complete a 2 player one on one local game (DJ v DJ only) Difficulty: * Connect a second DJ Hero turntable controller and complete at least one mix with a friend. I've tried multiple times to use a regular controller and switch back and forth on one turntable controller, but to no avail. You WILL need a second DJ Hero turntable controller to obtain this expensive bronze trophy. Supporting Act Join 3 online games, completing at least one mix in each game Difficulty: * Go to the "play online feature" in the DJ Hero main menu, search for a game, and join in. Complete at least one set list each time. Repeat 3 times. Finding someone to play with has been difficult at times, but I've found changing my difficulty level has helped to find more competitors. I find when I'm looking for an easy game, everyone is playing at medium, etc. Also, you do not need to win these match-ups, simply complete them. Headliner Host and complete an online game Difficulty: * Go to the "play online" feature in the DJ Hero main menu, select "create game", choose your settings and wait for a competitor. People do play online, so be patient. As I said before changing your difficulty may help to find players. You don't need to win this match-up, you just need to complete a set list. Win Online Win 10 online games Difficulty: ** Go to the "play online" feature in the DJ Hero main menu. Either join in or create your own game and begin play. You need to win 10 match-ups against other online players to obtain this trophy. There isn't much help to this other than simply WIN! New Jack Complete your first mix (not in a tutorial) Difficulty: * After you complete your DJ training, you will move on to a set list called "Scratchin' The Surface". Here you will begin your first mix. Complete this first mix to unlock this very easy bronze trophy. It does not matter how well you do, so long as you complete the mix. This will be one of your first DJ Hero trophies. Four Star Earn 4 stars in any mix on hard difficulty Difficulty: ** To obtain four stars, you have to be pretty good, but not perfect. Choose something easy like the frequently mentioned "Ain't no love in the heart of the city"/"Fuzz and them" on set list 1 (Scratchin' the Surface). If you can manage to hit 80-85% of the hits, you should easily bag this bronze trophy. Five Star Earn 5 stars in any mix on expert difficulty Difficulty: ** Sounds a bit tough but really isn't. 5 star performances do mean you have to be perfect (for the most part), but if you choose an earlier mix from an earlier set list this should be no problem. You will need to get at least 96-100% hits to obtain a five star rating. Refer to Four Star for further assistance. The Gift of Music Unlock a bonus mix on any set list (where available) Difficulty: ** On certain set lists you can unlock a "bonus" mix for obtaining a certain amount of stars. Check your set lists for requirements and achieve that number of stars to unlock previously unavailable mixes. This information will be displayed on your set list along with other pertinent information. You only have to unlock ONE bonus mix to obtain this bronze trophy. Hello World Have your score posted to the online leaderboard Difficulty: * Play an online game (joined or created) and complete it. Your score will automatically be posted for the world to see and you'll be awarded with yet another trophy. "So easy, a caveman can do it". My 50 PenceAttain a fifty streak in any mix on hard difficulty or above using a DJ Hero turntable controller Difficulty: * You must hit at least 50 icons (tap, scratch, crossfade, effects) in a row to obtain this trophy. I recommend using mix 1 from set list 1 by Bobby "Blue" Bland/Connie Price and The Keystones, entitled "Ain't no love in the heart of the city"/"Fuzz and them". You must do this on hard difficulty or above, but doing it on this early mix will make it much easier. Even on hard difficulties the earlier mixes have a low intensity that will help you out a lot. See Superstar DJ for additional assistance. Tonight, we DJ in HELL!Attain a 300 streak in any mix on expert difficulty using a DJ Hero turntable controller Difficulty: ***** You will be unable to even see 300 icons in the earlier set lists, so naturally as you progress, it will get harder. Choose a mix on expert difficulty that you feel comfortable with and go for it. You must hit 300 tap, scratch, crossfade and effects zone icons in a row to obtain this impressive silver trophy. There's no easy loophole for this trophy; you just have to be "the man". Remember to activate "euphoria" as much as possible as it will do all your crossfading for you, making it easier for you to pay attention to other things. It's unbelievably hard and if you can get this, you may have a shot at a platinum. I got this on the set list "Scratch Perverts Presents" entitled "Beats and Pieces". It's solely on you to decide which mix, as almost any expert mix is insanely difficult. Good luck! 200 Deep Attain a 200 streak in any mix on hard difficulty or above using a Dj Hero turntable controller Difficulty: **** Exactly the same strategy as the above Tonight, we DJ in HELL, only a little bit easier. In this one you will only need to be playing hard difficulty and you only need 200 tap icons, scratches, crossfade moves, effects zones and perfect regions in a row. It's not a simple task for sure. You can see 200 icons as early as the second set-list, so I suggest trying for that as they will be low intensity. All Over The World Complete a mix in every venue Difficulty: * Simply unlock and complete at least one mix in each venue. Unlock venues by earning stars on mixes on any difficulty. Here is a list of unlockable venues: Five in Ten Earn 5 stars in any ten mixes on medium difficulty or above Difficulty: *** Choose ten mixes on medium difficulty that you're comfortable with and earn five stars on all of them. Choose early mixes from early set lists if you're looking for a fast trophy. Earlier mixes have a much lower intensity and are easier to obtain a 5 star rating in. It may take a few minutes but you'll eventually get it. Medium difficulty is nothing compared to hard and expert, and with a bit of practice you should have this in no time. Four in Twenty Earn 4 stars in any 20 mixes on medium difficulty or above Difficulty: *** Choose 20 mixes on medium difficulty that you're comfortable with and earn 4 stars on all of them. This is fairly easy because to get a 4-star performance you only need 80-85% hits. Pick easy mixes from earlier set-lists to collect this bronze trophy. Five in Twenty Earn 5 stars in any 20 mixes on medium difficulty or above Difficulty: *** Exactly the same strategy as the above Four in Twenty trophy. This time, you'll have to be just a little bit better. To obtain 5-star performances you must get 96-100% hits. Props Watch the entire credits Difficulty: * It's really that simple people. Watch the credits to the very end and you will hear that beautiful ding. Probably the easiest trophy of the game. You can access the credits by going to "options" in the DJ Hero main menu by pressing select. They are a bit lengthy though. The entire running of the credits will last approximately 13 minutes. Legendary Status Earn 5 stars in every mix on hard difficulty or above Difficulty: ***** I think all that can really be said is "Practice, practice, practice and practice some more!". Some hard and expert mixes are manageable, some are nightmarish. Bottom line is, you need to be great. The more you play the better you will get. You will need 5 stars on EVERY mix (including bonus mixes) on hard or expert difficulty to obtain this very hard, respect-deserving trophy. Good luck and try not to throw your turntable across the room. The Grandmaster Earn 5 stars in every mix on medium difficulty or above Difficulty: **** Hard, but not as hard as some others. This trophy is definitely attainable for people who are still new to this game, but you'll have to be somewhat good. You will need 5 stars on every mix (including bonus mixes) on medium difficulty to obtain this trophy. Pretty easy considering you will now be able to call yourself "Grandmaster." Refer to Legendary Status for further pep talking. 360 Degrees Perform a 360 degree rewind in any mix with missing any icons on hard or expert difficulty Difficulty: * Simply rotate the platter "one full turn" counter-clockwise when a rewind is awarded to you. After completing this rewind, be sure not to miss any icons or you will not get this trophy. This must be done on a mix on hard or above difficulty, so use an earlier mix. They are low intensity and will provide some breathing room when trying to obtain this. 720 Degrees Perform a 720 degree rewind in any mix without missing any icons on expert difficulty Difficulty: ** Simply rotate the platter "two full turns" counter-clockwise when a rewind is awarded to you. Refer to 360 Degrees for a more complete example. Also see spoiler for additional hand placement help. The New Style Construct and play all the mixes in a quicklist online with another player Difficulty: * Go to the "play online" feature in the DJ Hero main menu and select "create game". Then select your own custom DJ set list. It doesn't matter how many mixes are in your set list. It could be one mix, and as long as you complete it, you will get this trophy. Guitar and DJ Play the guitar DJ mode with one player as the DJ and the other as the guitarist Difficulty: * Connect your DJ Hero turntable controller into USB port 1 and then plug a "Guitar Hero" guitar into USB port 2 and complete a mix together. You don't necessarily have to do well or even have a second player, but you do need a compatible guitar to obtain this other expensive trophy. One thing I've noticed is the guitar/DJ mixes seem to be much easier to manage, so try these when trying to obtain hard or expert level trophies. See spoiler for a few set lists you can play in dual DJ/guitarist mode. Spin Back King Perform 20 rewinds Difficulty: * Simply perform 20 rewinds. A "rewind" is awarded for successfully completing multiple taps, scratches, crossfades, effects zones and perfect regions. This is cumulative, so after a short while you will get this very easy bronze trophy. Walk in Wardrobe Complete any 10 mixes in 10 different outfits Difficulty: * As you progress throughout the game you will collect stars and unlock items for use in play. One of these items is new outfits. As you collect more stars, you will collect more outfits automatically. No one character has 10 ten outfits, so you will have to mix and match. Periodically check what you've unlocked and use your new outfits and characters in any mix. Very easy! The Vinyl Cut Earn 20 stars by playing any of the mixes in "The Vinyl Cut" set list Difficulty: * Earn 20 of the 25 available stars for the set list "The Vinyl Cut". Even though this is the last set-list it's still easy. Remember, you can obtain every star available in the game on easy difficulty. DJ Shadow Presents...Earn 15 stars by playing any of the mixes in the "DJ Shadow Presents..." set-list Difficulty: * The 18th set list should pose no problem to you. Simply earn 15 of the 20 available stars for this set-list. Remember, you can obtain every star available in the game on easy difficulty. Bonus Bangers Unlock all available bonus mixes from all set lists Difficulty: * On certain set lists you will have the opportunity to unlock previously unavailable mixes. Refer to each specific set-list for the requirements, as they vary from list to list. You will have to obtain a certain amount of stars for a particular set-list before a bonus mix is unlocked. Unlock all available bonus mixes to obtain this silver trophy. Turntable Perfection Earn 5 stars in every mix on expert difficulty Difficulty: ***** The bane of any serious DJ Hero trophy hunters existence. If you heard me say practice before, multiply that by 100 and that's what you'll need to obtain this ridiculously difficult trophy. You will need 5-stars on EVERY mix (including bonus mixes) on expert difficulty. I'm sorry to not have more on this one, but again, you simply have to be great to get this. Only serious efforts will yield you this one. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!! Here Comes the Hot Starter Earn 50 hot starts in any complete mixes Difficulty: ** A hot start is when you complete the opening intro section of a mix perfectly. Get 100% hits for the first little intro part of each track and you will be awarded a hot start. Complete the mix and repeat. It's cumulative, so you will get this sooner or later. Shout Out Complete any mix using a microphone or headset in a single player game Difficulty: * Simply have a headset or bluetooth hooked up during a game. I used the ps3 USB camera, which is also considered a microphone. No effort required aside from syncing your device. Some devices will sync automatically, making this even easier. Euphoria DJ Complete all the perfect regions and activate euphoria in any mix on hard difficulty or above Difficulty: ** Any time a perfect region is streamed at you, you must perform it perfectly. Upon doing this you will be awarded with euphoria; as soon as it gives it to you, use it. Repeat this process on any remaining "perfect zones" in that particular track. You must do this on a hard difficulty, so go easy, and use an earlier mix to slow the intensity. You must successfully complete all "perfect regions" and use the euphoria it gives you each time in the mix. You can also refer to my basic tips guide at that top to learn more about "euphoria", specifically on how to spot "perfect regions". Euphoric Hoarder Successfully play all the perfect regions in any mix on hard difficulty or above without activating euphoria Difficulty: ** This trophy is exactly the same as Euphoric DJ, except when you are awarded euphoria, don't use it. You must still complete all perfect regions without missing a beat, however. The Power of Two Both players activate "euphoria" and "star power" simultaneously in guitar/DJ mode Difficulty: * Have your "Guitar Hero" guitar hooked up and have a friend there to help you. It also helps if your friend is good. "Star Power" is "Guitar Hero's" euphoria. Both you and your partner need to be doing well to get this. When you both have been awarded your respective super powers, do a little countdown and activate both "euphoria" and "star power" simultaneously and ding! The Choice is Yours Complete an 8 mix custom set-list on medium difficulty or above and get at least 3 stars on each mix Difficulty: * Simply go to the custom DJ set-list feature in the DJ Hero main menu. At that point you can choose what mixes you like and what you would like to play. Make 8 different selections and begin play. During all 8 mixes you must obtain 3-stars on each mix to unlock this easy, but somewhat time consuming, trophy. Master Blaster Complete a set-list using the master blaster deck Difficulty: ** This is the last set of decks you will unlock, only after completing and earning almost all available stars will you have gained enough stars to unlock this. Very simple but time consuming. You will have to earn 468 total stars to unlock these decks. After you unlock it, simply finish a mix with it and bam! trophy time! Platinum DJ Hero Collect all other DJ Hero trophies Difficulty: ****** The one you were all after. If you get this, you really are a DJ Hero God and quite possibly have a career in front of you. Go buy some real turntables and get to it! DJ'ing is an amazing hobby that can also develop into a completely new understanding of music for you. It's a win-win situation. Enjoy your shiny new platinum trophy; you've earned it!!! If you liked or used this guide, please rep me. My last two cents: Huge Thanks to Dajmer79 for being uber helpful in finishing this guide! And dont forget to swing by SAVES' Shop for new Sigs and Platinum Cards! 's100%'s praying for a q bert add on in dj hero! Last edited by skelly518; 11-26-2009 at 09:12 AM. Reason: WIP finished |
