Bioshock 2 Trophy Guide

Difficulty:5/10. The number is based on reasonable amount of hours playing multiplied by reasonable player skill.
Trophy Difficulty: 1 star means easy, 2 stars means a little difficult, and 3 is the hardest.

Time to Platinum A reasonable amount of time to platinum that game is
40+ hours. The time to platinum is based on 2 Single Player playthroughs and reaching level 40 in Multiplayer.

Missable Trophies Yes. The following are trophies which can be easily missed. The game is linear so there is no backtracking.

You must find all of the level's audiotapes and Power to the People weapon's stations. Also there are little find along the way trophies I will detail so you will not miss any of them during your first playthrough. I encourage you when you begin a level click on the story related trophies spoiler tag and I will reveal which trophies you will find, video locations of the audio tapes, how many power to people stations, little sisters, and any other pertinent information. My final word of advice is to SAVE OFTEN AND CREATE MULTIPLE SAVES!

Completed your first non-private match

Difficulty:

Participate in a public Multiplayer match. You must finish the match from start to finish. During your first match practice using plasmids and gunplay to establish which style is best. If you have played Bioshock 1 the controller layout and gameplay is the exact same concept. For those who have not, you may only use one attack type (plasmid or gun) at a time.

[Unnatural Selection

Scored your first kill in a non-private match

Difficulty:

A message must pop up on your HUD indicating you killed a player and earned "+10" ADAM. An assist does not count. Hit the enemy with Incinerate! and follow up with a few shots of the shotgun.

A good way to kill players early in your development online is to shotgun/ice plasmid.thanks to besne for the tip

Disgusting Frankenstein

Became a Big Daddy for the first time in a non-private match

Difficulty:

During a Survival of the Fittest,Civil War, Turf War there will be an announcement about 2:00 minutes through the match that a Big Daddy suit has become available. Find the Big Daddy suit and press

when prompted.

Took down your first Big Daddy in a non-private match

Difficulty:

I recommend not engaging the player who is Big Daddy until either their health is really low or when there are a couple of your teammates to assist; but your shot/plasmid attach must be the final blow. Or if you are like me and want glory go in with a charged plasmid shot and circle around the Big Daddy. Fortunately, the player who is the Big Daddy moves slowly so take advantage of that factor. Most users will throw the proximity mines to kill you. Ignore the mines and focus on the Big Daddy. A hacked turret helps, as the Big Daddy must now focus their Rivet Gun on the unfriendly turret.

Two-Bit Heroics

Completed your first trial in a non-private match

Difficulty:

When you reach level 3 you unlock the ability to complete Trials. Trials are by definition performances beyond your normal play attempts. The easiest ones for trophy purposes are the hit player with plasmid Incinerate! 30 times or killing 30 players with the shotgun. While in the Multiplayer Lobby take a couple of minutes to see which Trials you are working on because of the extra ADAM you receive upon completion.

Mother Goose

Saved your first Little Sister in a non-private match

Difficulty:

Saving a Little Sister can only be done in Capture the Little Sister mode. You must be on offense and be the player who puts the Little Sister into the vent by holding

when prompted. Best method I found was the plasmids Houdini with Aero Dash. At the beginning of the round use Houdini to grab the Little Sister and use Aero Dash to create distance from the defenders. Continue to use Aero Dash all the way to the Vent.

Parasite

Achieved Rank 10

Difficulty:

Receive over 9000 ADAM to earn Rank 10.

Little Moth

Achieved Rank 20

Difficulty:

Receive over 25,500 ADAM to earn Rank 20.

Skin Job

Achieved Rank 30

Difficulty:

Receive over 53,000 ADAM to earn Rank 30.

Choose the Impossible

Achieved Rank 40

Difficulty:

Receive the max ADAM of 97,000 to earn the only

in Multiplayer. You can earn around 400-900 ADAM per match depending on skill and also the different methods of receiving ADAM.

Difficulty:

You can either win as the individual in Survival of the Fittest, ADAM Grab or win as part of a team in any of the team based modes.

Difficulty:

It is not possible to play all maps on one game setting. You will have to diversify the game modes a bit. Play some Survival of the Fittest, ADAM Grab, and Civil War to allow an opportunity to play all maps.

Difficulty:

In Pauper's Drop you are given a chance to buy a plasmid or tonic slot at the Gatherer's Garden. 40 ADAM for the plasmid slot and 25 for the tonic slot. Choose whichever you prefer, either one counts toward the bronze.

Max Plasmid Slots

Fully upgraded to the maximum number of plasmid slots

Difficulty:

You will purchase your plasmid slots at the Gatherer's Garden. In the beginning you will be given 3 plasmid slots. Purchase 4 more for 40, 50, 60, and 70 ADAM each. The last one will come when you are given the Summon Eleanor plasmid to make a total of 8 slots.

Upgraded a Weapon

Upgraded a weapon at a Power to the People Station

Difficulty:

You will find your first station in Ryan Amusements. If you are looking at the map it is inside the Security area near the machine gun.

Fully Upgraded a Weapon

Installed the third upgrade to a weapon

Difficulty:

Because the Rivet Gun or Drill will be your primary weapon it is best to focus the station upgrades to those weapons. You will unlock the third upgrade for a weapon when you have obtained the two basic upgrades for the weapon. The third upgrade is typically an extra-splash type damage upgrade. When you find your third station in Pauper's Drop you should have a fully uploaded Rivet Gun.

Distance Hacker

Used the Hack Tool to hack an object at a distance

Difficulty:

When you first find the Hack Tool you will be asked to hack a door control panel. Do so and you will be given the trophy.

Prolific Hacker

Hacked one of each kind of machine

Difficulty:

You must hack one of the following to unlock the trophy. If you are hacking everything in sight you should get this around Ryan Amusements when you first see the turret attack you. It is not necessary to hack from a distance.

Hacked 30 machines at a distance with the Hack Tool

Difficulty:

A distance hack is when you hack any hackable machine (bots, cameras, doors, and vending machines) using the hack tool. Does not count when you hit

to hack.

First Research

Researched a Splicer with the Research Camera

Difficulty:

You will find the Research Camera in the pawn shop of Pauper's Drop. Once you obtain it, equip it and when you see a white circle around the target splicer press

to begin research.

One Research Track

Maxed out one Research Track

Difficulty:

The first fully researched track will be the Thuggish Splicer in Pauper's Drop where you will find the Research Camera. A fully researched track is when the research track is at level 4.

Research Master

Completed all research on every subject in Rapture

Difficulty:

When you find the Research Camera in the pawnshop of the Pauper's Drop you begin one of the time consuming processes of researching all of the enemies of Rapture. I would recommend using the following tonics to enhance your research: Keen Observer and the Extended Reel. To help your score do the following method: 1. Turn on the research camera on the target, 2. Use all of your plasmids against the target (will increase the score better), 3. kill the splicer. You should normally score an A+ with this method.
Here are the enemies you must research to level 4 to complete the research track:

Grand Daddy

Defeated 3 Big Daddies without dying during the fight

Difficulty:

Do not worry about having to fight 3 Big Daddies at once. You must kill 3 Big Daddies in a row without dying though. The dying refers to actual engagement with the Big Daddy. Your first Big Daddy is in Ryan Amusements that is 1. The next two will come from Pauper's Drop. These are your first 3 in a row. If you are playing on Easy then preparations for the Big Daddy fight are simple. Hacked bots, extra EVE hypos and anti-armor bullets will decimate your opponent with ease. Do not forget to use Electro Bolt when the Big Daddy is close to allowing some distance betwixt the both of you.

Adopted a Little Sister

Adopted a new Little Sister for the first time

Difficulty:

You will adopt a Little Sister after killing your first Big Daddy in Ryan Amusements. Lead the Big Daddy into the water and shock him. Use the Rivet Gun or shock the Big Daddy and then use the drill. Cannot be missed nor do you need to do anything else.

Master Gatherer

Gathered 600 ADAM with Little Sisters

Difficulty:

If you are following the recommended number of playthroughs then you should get this around Dionysus Park. It is not a single 600 but a cumulative total of 600 ADAM. Around 15 gathers without Harvesting will work. With Harvesting it takes only 4 Harvests as each Little Sister submits 160 ADAM.

Fully Upgraded a Plasmid

Fully Upgraded one Plasmid to the Level 3 version

Difficulty:

I would recommend purchasing the Electro Bolt to the Level 3 version first. The first level is free, second level is 120 ADAM, and Level 3 is 240 ADAM. So saving up can be a chore.

Unbreakable

Defended yourself against the Big Sister without dying

Difficulty:

Easily done on the Easy setting. The first Big Sister on the first level does not count as you only wound it. The best method to take down the Big Sister is to use Armor-Piercing ammo and the Electro Bolt along with the Incinerate! plasmid. Hacked security devices help as does your environment. When it is near oil, burn her. When in water, shock her. (giggity)

Look at You, Hacker

Killed 50 enemies using only hacked Security

Difficulty:

The trophy has to be forced a little bit. You cannot harm the Splicer and allow any hacked Turret, Security Bot, Security Camera, or Mini Turrets from the Hack Tool. It will take some time so do not worry. Try to hack everything and allow the hacked devices to perform their jobs.

Trap Master

Killed 30 enemies using only Traps

Difficulty:

The Rivet Gun has Trap ammo. A kill counts as the Splicer dying from the Trap Rivet. The Splicer does not have to die from the Trap on the ground. You may also fire the Trap Rivet at the Splicer to accelerate reception of the trophy.

Counterattack

Killed an enemy with its own projectile

Difficulty:

Two Methods:
1. Leadhead Splicer- Wait until the Splicer has thrown a grenade. Once you see the grenade use your Telekinesis power, grab the grenade, and thrown it back to its original owner.
2. Big Daddy Rumbler- The Rumbler will launch missiles at you. Wait until his health is low and when he fires one return to sender.

Master Protector

Got through a Gatherer with no damage and no one getting to the Little Sister

Difficulty:

Best done during the first defend the Little Sister event. Lay down trap rivets around each doorway and not near the Little Sister. I recommend that method because the Splicers need to die before they are able to hit you. The annoying part of the event is to not be hit by the Leadhead Splicers. But if you have a Security Bot and the Turret it should be easy. Spam Electro Bolt and do not use your drill. The Rivet Gun will suffice. Create a manual save right before you lay down any traps in case you would like to change up your strategy.

Big Spender

Spent 2000 dollars at Vending Machines

Difficulty:

The trophy does not require a collection of $2000 spent at once. Every time you find money and are near vending machine purchase ammo as it is the most expensive. The trophy usually pops up around Siren Alley or Dionysus Park.

Dealt with Every Little Sister

Dealt with every Little Sister

Difficulty:

During the first playthrough do not harvest the Little Sisters. On the second harvest all of the Little Sisters. Here is a breakdown per level of the Little Sisters.

Difficulty:

When you begin a new game select Hard. I advise doing this on the second playthrough. Quickly play the game as you should know where the Power to the People Stations are and can easily harvest the Little Sisters. If you are well equipped adopt a Little Sister, let her harvest two Angels, and when near the Vent harvest for the maximum output of ADAM. Your Tonic purchases should focus on defense, health, and EVE.

Savior

Saved every Little Sister and spared Grace, Stanley, and Gil

Difficulty:

You must rescue all 12 Little Sisters and do not kill Grace, Stanley, and Gil when given the option. When the opportunity arises to kill the 3 targets simply walk away to the next objective and that will count as sparing their lives.

Paid your respects to the founder of Rapture

Difficulty:

When you enter Ryan Amusements in Chapter 3 seek out the first floor entrance. On your left you will see the former leader of Rapture. Just behind his filing cabinet is a golf club. Use telekinesis to lift the club and then throw the club at Ryan's head. Remember, "A Man Chooses!"

TIP: Keep changing the game mode you play, somes maps are easly to find in diferent game modes.
Once you have a played a full game on every map this trophy is yours.

I found an excellent spot for the

Master Protector

trophy. In Siren's Alley at Plaza Hedone, which is right after you get the key code and survive the Spider Slicer onslaught, when you first make it into the area,head accros the walkway and to the walkway on the right towards the door on the right. Once you are in the room head left and there will be stairs in the last room in the right corner behind the wooden paneled wall. Head up the stairs and turn right twice to head in the opposite direction follow this path until you find a Room with a turret to hack near the end of it on the right. Kill any splicers in the area, and there will be a door to a room with a safe in it, and a corpse to plunder for ADAM right next to the turret. When you enter the room it will say Smuggler's Hideout at the bottom and the Lamb's Operation audiotape is in there as well. This way you will know that you are in the right location. This room will be your ambush point. From facing the door place some trap bolts to your left but dont go out too far or you will let out a Brute Slicer below and he will jump up there to you. and then pput out two to three Mini- Turrets on the side opposite the Hacked Turret. Now hide in the room so that no one can shoot you and you will have the perfect view point to shoot any splicers that get to close to your sister. The mini turrets and hacked turret should do moist of the work. Wait for all of the gunfire and noise to fade away then come out of your spot and pick up the sister for the trophy.

Any suggestions on which multiplayer game is best for getting the most ADAM?

Granted your skill has a lot to do with it, but I've found that ADAM Grab is the best because there are tons of vials of ADAM around that most people ignore, plus the longer you hold on to the Little Sister the more you get.

You can also use Proud Parent to get 20 extra Adam out of each harvest.
Also i think you get more research points if you add Damage Research also. Im not sure when i added that on my research experience went up one level almost for every research i did.

might want to mention you can only research thuggish splicers in paupers drop and that you need to max out big daddy research by the time you reach fontaine futuristics

not fully researching thuggish stopped me getting all the single player trophys on my first playthrough.....wasnt happy....

see here is the thing i found plenty of thuggies later on in the game. you need to be very selective when doing the research. as in dont blow everything away that walks. research everything

the multiplayer trophies are just time consuming.

yeah i know. but i did a suggested playthrough of 2 for reasonable gamers who may not have played the game before or want to enjoy the experience

Bodi I don't know how you saw any more Thuggies after Pauper's Drop, but I can most certainly tell you that in my game they do disappear after Pauper's (except for the one in a doctor's uniform on the last level). If you google "thuggish splicers bioshock 2 locations" you will see I'm not trying to blow smoke up your ass. Perhaps you confused them with the Leadheads and Houdinis? They do look alike though they are different.

I'm not knocking you or anything Bodi, but I believe you got the Leadheads and Thuggish mixed up, since you stated in a previous post that the Leadheads are the most problematic to research. Yet, they show up on every single level.

Bioshock 2 Research: Thuggish Splicers

People should also make a note that Spider Splicers do not reappear after Fontaine Futuristics so max out your research on them prior to going to Persephone.

All the splicers respawn on the levels in which they are found, although the Brutes have a significantly longer respawn time. So just hang around and max out your research prior to moving on to the next level.

I saw several Thuggish splicers in Siren Alley just last night. Don't know if the game was being silly or what but they were there.

Glitch on my end or yours, but there are too many posts across multiple boards confirming that they do not show up after Paupers.

Better to just be safe and research the damn things prior to moving out of Paupers.

yeah i just noticed that. im suprised that the TGT member who was suppose to check and edit did not pick up on that. ill fix it. also, in reference to the trophies to earn: i only listed the trophies in which it is best to have the trophy done so you can focus on the other more important onces. you can technically achieve all of the hacks, turrets, research trophies in Inner Persephone but I want players to be done well before that time.

For Master Protector

It is best to do it on the level with Gil Alexander, Towards the Holding Cells. The reason why is because Many of the 2-3 areas that you gather adam from have only 2 ways that the splicers come at. Just plant almost every trap on every corner. Use trap rivets, Mini gun turrets, and land mines from the gernade launcher. It's easy because you have so many traps from these weapons and can just hide in the corner and let the little sister gather adam without you or her getting hit.

Not sure if they don't appear after paupers drop but they don't appear on later levels, I started to keep track as my research hit lvl 3, maxed out all research except for thuggish.

Now I have to play this third time, hopefully I'll max out before the end.

Just looked over your guide since I'm mostly done with my first playthrough. Hoping to not be missing anything, but if I did, then I'll pick it up on another round

Very nice I'm going to throw out there. Had to look at it a bit, but still not bad at all

Adding that I did the counterattack using the rocket turrets, grabbed a rocket and shot it back with telekinesis. Didn't even know of the trophy or plan on going after it, just kinda happened lol. Also glad I didn't kill any of those people that you have an option about cause I figured hey this is prolly a trophy and sure enough it was. haha.

Also a note, nearing the end of the game, you get a couple of chances to research the Brute Splicers & Thuggish Splicers(they did pop up a bit on normal, but not on my hard playthrough). And for researching the machines in case you don't find enough or something, just land in the red for the vending machines and use those bots that come. Just some helpful tips and all Bodi.
